The Art of Falling with Moti Nativ
Fall accidents are among the most common and serious problems facing the elderly and constitute a major cause of mortality and injuries. Fear of falling results in loss of confidence, restriction of activity, and subsequent reduction in quality of life.
In the process of developing the Feldenkrais Method, Moshe provided practical tools to learn how to fall, prevent falls, and decrease injuries caused by falls.
Feldenkrais understood the importance of owning the skill of falling: “You must practice falling forward and backward, as the benefits of a good fall are many (I myself was saved from death twice thanks to knowing how to fall). This is important not just in a brawl, but in a person's daily life as well.” (Jiu-Jitsu and Self-Defense - 1930).
When Feldenkrais became a judo expert (1948) he titled this skill “the Art of Falling”.
In this workshop, Moti will share techniques and principles aiming to enrich the teaching of the Art of Falling to the elderly and young alike.
